Richard Spraggins (JIM METZLER) is a handsome recluse, trapped in a wheelchair. To escape his pain, he retreats into an imaginary world where he becomes Rick Stone, a tough talking private eye, hired by a mysterious blonde to discover who is trying to kill her.
When Richard's life long buddy, Duncan (JOHN RITTER), comes to visit, he tries to teach the skeptical Richard about his latest discovery -- Objectification Therapy, a form of self-hypnosis where you unlock the door to your imagination and "become" someone else.
Late that night, Richard begins to "objectify," imagining himself in the world of Rick Stone -- a low rent private dick with whiskey breath and holes in his socks, who cruises the perilous streets of L.A. in his '59 Cadillac, his gun always at the ready. It is here that we re-meet the people of Richard Spraggin's life.
A gorgeous, mysterious blonde (ANDREA THOMPSON), who has moved in next door to Richard, becomes Jade Norfleet, a classic damsel-in-distress who needs Rick Stone to get her out of a serious jam. His nurse/companion, Bobby Frost (VICTOR LOVE), a good hearted young black man with a passion for Chinese food, becomes the Black Chinaman, a mysterious restauranteur and racketeer. And Richard's loathsome sister, Peep (KAY LENZ), and her obnoxious boyfriend Syd (BILLY BOB THORNTON) become Madge and Monk, the villains in Rick Stone's world whom he must fight and defeat in order to save the life of the beautiful Mrs. Norfleet.
It is through the guiding hands of both Duncan and Jade Norfleet that Richard's worlds of reality and imagination merge, and he achieves more than he ever thought possible.
